Näkymä Richmond Hilliltä / View from Richmond Hill

Nyt on kerrankin ollut lämmin täällä! Aamuisin töihin lähteissä vain kahtena päivänä pidin pitkähihaista, muuten lyhyet hihat ovat olleet ok jopa seitsemän aikaan. Muuttoasioista huolimatta olen karkaillut nauttimaan säästä useampana päivänä. 

Keskiviikkona mentiin töiden jälkeen lasillille Richmond Hillille työkaverin suosituksesta. Olin ensin vähän häh kun työkaveri sanoi että tässä on meidän pubi, se oli aivan täysin perus UK-pubi. Meille oli siis luvattu terassia tms. ja sitä ei ollut näkösällä. Jutun juoni olikin seuraavanlainen: osta juoma normaaliin tapaan, mene ulos ja ylitä katu saapuaksesi pienelle promenadille, jolla on penkkejä ja ylläoleva näkymä. Juotuasi juomasi palauta se ylityspaikan vieressä sijaitsevaan lasikoriin, tai anna tarjoilijalle jos hän kulkee keräämässä. Aika mainiota, Suomessahan tämä ei ikinä onnistuisi kun on anniskelukarsinat, ja vielä Hietaniemen kauppahallin säätö.

Tänään piti myöskin pakata koko päivä, mutta oli aika kuuma ja selkeästi ulkoilusää. Päädyin Regents Parkiin suomalaisseuraan pelaamaan sulkapalloa ja mölkkyä! Nesteytyspuoli toimi hienosti myös, oli juomasanko jossa oli vielä alussa jäitä, myöhemmin tosin vain kylmää vettä. Viilensi sekin.

Mölkky käynnissä / Finnish summer game mölkky

We have finally been able to enjoy some warm weather! Last week when leaving to work in the mornings I only needed long sleeves twice. Otherwise it was ok without sleeves already at around seven! Even though I have this moving thing to take care of, I have escaped to enjoy the weather.

On Wednesday we went for after work drinks at Richmond Hill as a colleague recommended it. He said he knew a nice place with good view. Once we got there I was confused as it was a standard pub with no outdoor seating or balcony. It turned out that you buy a drink as usual, but then you cross the road to a small promenade with benches and a spectacular view! This was really cool as back home you could never ever do this. It is strictly regulated in which area you can consume alcoholic beverages bought from a certain pub or bar.  Cross the road would definitely be a no no.

Today I was meant to pack all day but then it was super good weather and I was doing well with the packing. So I joined a Finnish company in Regent's Park for some games and picnic. I joined for badminton doubles and a Finnish summer game mölkky. A large bucket full of ice made sure drinks stayed cool all day long! 

Pääskysestä ei päivääkään

Nyt on sitten kesä ihan virallisestikin, kai. Sunnuntaina näin pääskysen, mutta on vähän koleat ilmat vielä(kin.) Saa nähdä miten kesä tästä muotoutuu, vai jääkö se jumittamaan nykyiseen tilaan (viikossa max 2-3 päivää aurinkoa, 3-4 päivää harmaata, 1-3 sadetta)

Oho tulipa tynkäpostaus muttei ole sen kummempaa asiaa niin palataan tuonnempana!

Nyt on 3/7 takana ja taisteluväsymystä ilmassa. Väsyttää, kiukututtaa ja uuvuttaa. On kyllä tosi kuuma myöskin, +25 paikkeilla. Mun ikkuna on länteen ja aurinko porottaa sisään 13-20 eli on aika tukalaa. Ulkona on kyllä kiva kun tuulee just mukavasti. Huomenna on varmaan parempi päivä kun sää on yhä hyvä ja saa nukkua kunnolla.

3/7 exams are behind, and there is battle fatigue (?) in the air. I am tired, cranky and exhausted. It's also very hot (for UK), around +25. My window is to the West and sun is shining in 13-20 so it's quite hot in here. Outside it's nice as wind keeps the air moving. I think tomorrow will be a better day, the weather will still be nice and I will get a good night sleep tonight.

Kesämuistoja / Summer memories

Puhuin hiljattain skypessä kavereiden kanssa jotka eivät enää asu täällä, ja tuli mieleen kesä. Silloin kävin kylässä parin luona, ja muutenkin kaipaan välillä hieman värikkäämpää ja lämpimämpää menoa. Tähän hätään on vain kuvia, mutta nekin tuovat edes vähän väriä tänne harmaaseen sumuun! Nämä ovat Staffordin reissulta.

I recently skyped with some friends who don't live here anymore, and I ended up thinking back to summer when I visited some of them. I also miss a bit of colour and warmness. At the moment I only have pictures, but at least they are not grey and bring up some nice memories! These are from my Stafford trip.

Kesä yhdessä yössä / Summer overnight

Huu täällä on kesä nyt! Eilen oli ok sää ja söin jäätelöä Learning Zonen rappusilla tyytyväisenä, mutta tänään olen vielä tyytyväisempi! On ainakin +25 ja muutos on valtava. Sandaalit läpsyvät ja kesämekot hulmuavat. Osa tosin vieläkin tarpoo mennen uggeissa, mitä en voi käsittää. En alkuunkaan käsitä niiden rumuutta, se on kai diplomaattisesti katsottuna makuasia, mutta se on mielestäni fakta että +25 ja lampaankarvavuoriset saappaat on vähän liikaa.

Niin ja tota oli mulla niitä kokeitakin huomenna. Jännä nähdä miten menee, ei ole paniikkia vielä mutta se johtunee säästä ja mansikoista... Nyt ei vaan kiinnosta kirjanpito tai makrotalous.

So it is finally here. SUMMER. Yesterday was alright weather, I was happy and had ice cream on the stairs of Learning Zone, but today I'm even happier! It's at least +25 and the change is huge as it seems like summer came overnight. Yesterday people were wearing jeans, but today I have seen so many summer dresses! Although I have seen some girls still wearing uggs which I don't quite get. Of course I never get round to understanding the ugliness of those, I guess one can argue about it forever, but it is a fact that +25 and sheepskin lining is more than crazy.


Oh yes I have exams coming too. Tomorrow, two. Exiting to see how they go since at the moment I'm not panicking at all due to strawberries and weather and I'm not sure how seriously I take the revision...
