Skotlanti /Scotland

Tajusin juuri, että olen antanut teidän luulla etten ole käynyt Skotlannissa ollenkaan tänä vuonna. Ja sehän ei tietenkään pidä paikkaansa, olen käynyt sekä Edinburghissa kävelemässä Royal Milea ja syömässä superhyvän burgerin että Glasgowssa ostostelemassa ja ihastelemassa Mackintoshin luomuksia.

I just realised I have let you believe that I haven't been to Scotland at all this year. Of course that is not true, I have been to both Edinburgh (walking Royal Mile, shopping and eating yummy burgers) and Glasgow (shopping and seeing the works by Mackintosh.)

Royal Exchange Square + Gallery of Art, Glasgow

Merchant Cityn "sisäänkäynti" Buchanan Streetiltä on talvisaikaan lempipaikkani Glasgowssa noiden jouluvalojen takia, keväisin parasta on Kelvingrove Park.

Merchant City "entrance" from Buchanan Street is my favourite spot in Glasgow in wintertime because of those Christmas lights, a spring fav is Kelvingrove Park with no doubt.

205. haaste /challenge

Piti tätä varten haastetta varten ottaa kuva mun viimeaikaisista värikkäistä asusteista, mutta ei siitä mitään tullut. Tässä aiheeseen värit sopiva kuva Glasgown Charing Crossin asemalta. Tykkäsin kovin paikan keltaisuudesta ja rohkeasta värivalinnasta. Edinburghissa Festival Centre oli myöskin hyvin värikäs, piristävää keskellä superharmaata kaupunkia. Edinburgh on ehkä harmain paikka missä olen ikinä ollut, vuodenajasta huolimatta.

Charing Cross, Glasgow

syöksyvä sisko / speeding sister

I was going to take some pics of some colourful accessories I have worn recently but it didn't turn out to be anything good... Luckily my pictures from Scotland go nicely with the theme 'colours.' Charing Cross station in Glasgow was so yellow that it really made my day! I also liked the brave and surprising colour choice. In Edinburgh the Festival Centre (built in an old church) was also very colourful in the middle of super grey city. Edinburgh might be the greyest place I have ever been, no matter which season it is.

204. haaste / challenge

Pääsiäisen kunniaksi valokuvatorstaissa aiheena suklaa. Edinburghin iltapäiväteepaikkaa googlaillessani löysin myös kahvila-ravintolan, jolla oli myös konvehtipuoti. Parasta hommassa oli se, että ravintola tarjosi mahdollisuutta tehdä konvehteja itse kokin opastuksella. Suosittelen ehdottomasti siellä päin pyöriville makeanpersoille henkilöille!

Paikka oli The Cellar Door jos kiinnostuit.

Siisteys mahdotonta / Mess is guaranteed

For Easter the theme for the week is chocolate. As I did google research for afternoon tea in Edinburgh I came across with a lovely restaurant-café-patisserie that also made chocolates. The best thing about it was that they offered chocolate workshops where you get to try making your own chocolates. Great fun I have to say!

Iltapäivätee / Afternoon tea

Ensimmäinen asia Edinburghissa oli iltapäivätee. Oli hyvä istahtaa alas yhdessä kaiken alkusäädön jälkeen ja aloittaa loma. Paikaksi valitsin arvostelujen (ja hinnan) perusteella Hubcafen, joka sijaitsee vanhassa kirkossa. Mielenkiintoinen miljöö. Otettiin pitemmän kaavan kautta suolaista ja makeaa, joten pöytä kannettiin täyteen herkkuja. Ensin kolmioleipiä kanalla ja tonnikalla, sitten skonssi, keksejä ja kakkua. Oli suhteellisen täysi olo sen jälkeen.

The first thing in Edinburgh was the afternoon tea. It was good to sit down together after all the hassle when arriving and start the holiday. The place was Hubcafe, which is in an old church. Quite interesting place i think. I love it how old churches are used as restaurants, clubs and theatres across UK.
