Ehdin monen vuoden tauon jälkeen piipahtamaan silakkamarkkinoillakin ennen Englantiin paluuta, sain tehtyä häkellyttävän paljon asioita puolessatosita viikossa! En itse yhtään tykkää silakoista, mutta saaristolaisleipä on ehdoton suosikkini. Ja ihan ruotsiksi osasin ostaa kun täti ei puhunut suomea. Satoi vettä ja olin märkä, mutta poistuin paikalta tyytyväisenä kahden saaristolaisleivän ja kahden perunarieskan kera.
Herring market is a traditional fish market in October in Helsinki, the event dates back to 1743. The idea is that fishermen come to sell their fresh products straight from their boats. I'm not such a fan of herring, but I really like archipelago bread, which is very dark rye bread, and another very typical product at the market. I'm still stunned by the fact that I made it to there and to do so many other things within the week and a half I spent home after my internship before returning to England. I went to the market, I bought some bread (in Swedish because the seller, like so many fishermen and women from archipelago, didn't speak any Finnish) and I now have a slice for breakfast every morning!
